I came across it a few months ago.  I was on another game company’s website, and the forum topic was talking about post-apocalyptic roleplaying games.  I have been a Palladium Rifts player since 1993, and had run a campaign for 6 years when I had gotten fed up with the rules.  I enjoyed the setting, but the rules killed it for me.  I posted this info on the site, and someone pointed me towards Alpha Omega.

I looked at the art, and was immediately hooked.  The setting itself is beautifully done (although I’m not a fan of the “angels v demons” metaplot), and purchased everything that MSL has put out for it.  I’ve not played it (planning on doing that a lot at GenCon), but have started planning a chronicle set in the area of Evansville Indiana/Henderson Kentucky.  Once I get a firm grasp of the rules, I think I’ll be ready to seriously begin working up the campaign area and events.

Awesome, we’d love to see you at GenCon. I’ll be there running some scenarios (not sure which ones yet).

I’ll be there.  I plan on spending a lot of time playing AO while I’m there.  Makes it easy when there are a ton of games slots available!

Cool… if it’s anything like last year, we had a room to ourselves and we ran 4 tables.
So you could practically finish one session, change seats and play another.
It was AWESOME…

If you are new and don’t have a dedicated character, be sure to play Left for the Dead.
Not sure who is running it this year, but it was a great midnight horror module last year.

And without bragging, I’m the only one from my group to survive smile

I do not have a dedicated character.  I assume that I’ll need a dedicated character for all AO games at GenCon (ie no pre-gens will be issued out).  Is that correct?

Not true, we carry around pre-gen characters for those who walk in, so you don’t have to bring your own.
We also give you CDP and Trust rewards taht you can apply to you own character if you generate after the session (we encourage it because it allows you to reward yourself and keep going with the system).
Personally, I carry extras of the pre-gen so if someone wants, they can copy it down and use it for multiple events.

Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!

Just checked…Left for Dead is full :(  I did get signed up for 7 AO games while I’m there.  Should be a good time!

i would still get some generics and show up for any events you are interested in, including Left for the Dead…

unfortunately, while many events sell out, we have a fair amount of no-shows to the events.  i really hate it when people do that…

but for those that DO show up, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!!

That’s a good idea, CD.  It appears that all the AO games are in a single room, so it shouldn’t be that bad (definitely not running from convention center to convention center).  I’ll get a pre-gen set up and have it with me, in the hopes that someone is a no-show.

Yes, generics are your friends. Even if the event is full, some GMs will seat a couple walkins. I’m usully up for the challenge myself smile

to confirm, yes, we have our own room in the new JW Marriott hotel - evidently they will also have a ticket center in the hotel as well - the JW Marriott is going to be the home for most of the non-D&D role playing games, so they’re making a big push to get foot traffic over there.  it is right next to the convention center on the main drag via airwalk, so we’re in a much better location than we were last year when we were way over on the other side of the mall/train station…

Perhaps all this GenCon discussion should be in the GenCon thread smile
