Hey everyone!
I’ll be attending and running Alpha Omega events at Megacon 2011. This convention is one of the largest in the Southeast in Orlando Florida. It is a fan convention that includes anime, gaming, comics, panels, and more. Big media guests such as William Shatner and Stan Lee will be there!

Cool, I’m planning on going! Never been to it before. Do you have to sing up for the Alpha Omega events or is it just a drop in kinda deal?

You can certainly just show up and play. However, we are fairly new to the convention (only 2nd year) and are trying to build a fan base. Megacon is now judging the success of gaming by the pre-registrations that they receive, so I would ask that you do so if at all possible. Right now, the RPGA still wags the dog, along with Pathfinder events and such. My goal is to at least match or beat Shadowrun Missions events/participation!!
Once you have purchased your Megacon admission (you should purchase pre-con if possible - if you’ve never been, note that the lines are EXTREMELY long, especially this year with Stan Lee and Will Shatner and others showing up…plus it’s a little cheaper), head on over to Warhorn (http://warhorn.net/megacon-2011) and create an account and sign up for the games you wish to play.
There is no additional charge for gaming once you’ve purchased your Megacon admission!
We will have a collection of pre-generated characters, or you can create your own (500 CDP as per the rules) for use in some of the games.
If you have any other friends that might want to try the game, please bring them along!
I will be there Saturday and Sunday, so make sure you say hello!
(Just look for the AO books)

Awesome, I’ll be sure to do that. I should have hopefully four other friends from our AO group attending, so I’ll have them sign up as well. I can’t wait and we’re all looking forward to it!

RZ2,
You’ll really enjoy the events. I’m not sure which modules that CD is planning on running, but the Demo’s are sweet and some of the general module are fairly unique… especially the one called “Something Fishy”.

We’ll be running (officially)
Exterminate!
Guard Duty
The World is Shaking
Something Fishy
However, I will have my laptop with me, so if I get a group where everyone has already played something (doubtful), I can run something else…

it’s best if you don’t even try
btw, sorry for hijacking your thread, I was on a BORING call at work and decided to surf the forums while I listened to people drone on and on
I guess I should have not taken my frustrations out on CD though, or I might find my account banned!!!!
FORGIVE ME CD!!!

Haha, oh man I really can’t wait now. I’ve only ever GM’ed the Milk Run Module, so I’m pretty excited to see some more AO modules!

So Megacon went pretty good - thanks for all those that attended!
We had a couple of new players along with some (such as Rock Zombie) that had played before. I believe everyone had a great time and learned a lot! I’m hoping Rock Zombie will post his impressions for the rest of you…
I will reiterate that anyone gaming in Central Florida please check to see if the convention you are attending is using Warhorn (warhorn.net) to schedule their games - if so, please, Please, PLEASE do all you can to pre-register. There are only a few people that are actually in charge of the RPG events throughout Central Florida, and they have some strict policies - not having anyone pre-register for a game session puts that session/table in risk of getting cancelled! When we’re competing against groups like Pathfinder and Living Forgotten Realms that can fill 20 tables, we need to show as much support as possible! Even if only two or three sign up during pre-registration, it shows the management that people are interested in the game!

Wow, they cancel games without the approval of the GM?
That’s very short sighted.

I think they were concerned with justifying their space requirements with the main convention staff…the room had about 25 tables for RPGs - most of these (at least 20) were used for the two big D&D games - they are the tail that wags the dog, as they had over 150 people in there just to play D&D. Many of the D&D games had overbooked where they needed to add additional tables, and the only way to do that is to take a table away from someone running some less popular game that has no players signed up. They did this with independent GMs first - as I was a rep of MSL, and obviously there to run games more than just running a game to try to get into the con for free, I was spared. However, they did reassign my other Warden at the last minute on the Sunday last afternoon slot because we had no AO players and he was also a D&D GM.

Gotcha, makes a little sense, but that means new games have less chance of walk ins.
