It seems that healing is pretty well taken care of in the rulebook as far as living characters go, but a friend of mine who made an A.I. character pointed out that there aren’t any rules regarding how his character can be healed.  So, here are the questions related to A.I. health that don’t seem to be answered in the book:

1) Do A.I. characters "bleed"/regenerate as living characters do, or does damage affect them differently?
2) What physical methods are there for healing (i.e. if Medicine, Health packs, bandages, etc. don’t work on A.I., what’s the A.I. equivalent)?
3) Can A.I. be repaired just like a broken computer/pneumatic lift would be repaired (using technology skills)?
4) Does Healing through weilding affect A.I. characters?

Greetings mikkl!

The short answer to this question is no. We did not intend for AI to bleed or regenerate. That being said, as a GM you could introduce bleeding to AI if you feel it is necessary. Bleeding in AI could be interpreted as fluids being lost or Power sources that are slowly draining. Regeneration could take the form of nanotechnology packs in the form of equipment or Augmentations that could heal an AI over time. We intend on including equipment and Augmentations of this sort in the Equipment Manual supplement.
2) What physical methods are there for healing (i.e. if Medicine, Health packs, bandages, etc. don’t work on A.I., what’s the A.I. equivalent)?[/quote:a49da]

This is a great place for you to be creative, but a few ideas could be nanobot auto-injectors that act as "Juice" for AI, repairing damaged Structural Integrity rather than the Health Pool of a living creature. AI versions of "Patches" could also be created for healing over time. These items would likely be more rare and expensive than the standard medical equipment in most areas of the AO world. Equipment of this nature will also be included in the Equipment Manual, but for now you can experiment with solutions and equipment that you create. When we have the Community Contribution forum up and running you can submit your creations to the Community for other GMs to use in their adventures!
3) Can A.I. be repaired just like a broken computer/pneumatic lift would be repaired (using technology skills)?[/quote:a49da]

Certainly. Repairing an AI is certainly within the realm of capability for a character skilled in Mechanical Technologies, however the extent of the repairs based on equipment, time, and other factors the GM deems relevant will influence the amount of Structural Integrity regained.
4) Does Healing through weilding affect A.I. characters?[/quote:a49da]

Yes. But unlike living creatures that are healed through Deliverance Effects, AI and other physical objects are healed through Creation Effects.

These are all excellent questions mikkl and we hope they have been answered adequately.

Thank you for bringing them to our attention,

MSL
