This can be the official ‘anything-Oderon-related’ post, until we know enough about it to branch into an Oderon section of the forum.
Here’s some questions to get us started. I’m particularly interested in the first.

1. Anyone else think that this sounds a LOT like New York from CJ Cherryh’s [u:62d6a]Sunfall[/u:62d6a]?
2. Do you suppose the Mezin live here at all, or is it strictly human?
3. It seems like humanity may have moved past its capitalist need, although not completely socialistic, so,
4. Who exactly lives on the top and (presumably) most sought-after floors?

1. Not sure what that is.

2. I’m sure the mezin at least have operatives in Oderon.

3. I doubt they’re totally past capitalist need.

4. It said that Religious and Government leaders took charge after the "apocolyptic disasters", so possibly them.

[color=#FFBF00:d0490]It sounds like it might have a heavy Mezin presence or influence.  I would bet that only people with alot of money, government officials, and other "notable" members of society get the upper floors.  Probably like a status symbol, the higher up the tower you are the more important you are.[/color:d0490]

Well, that’s what I would think, too, except that if they are truly past a capitalist drive, they wouldn’t have money or status any more. Certainly the upper floors are going to be more desired, but how do we find out who gets to live there? Is it the older people/wise men type thing? Is it a racial thing (because it is said that humanity is still the dominant force on Earth, and this is their biggest city)? I’m truly curious to find out more.

Well, it can’t be a racial thing, as the history of this world says that all the races have mixed and re-mixed causing no one race to truly exist anymore. I would think if they’re more socialist that it would be people who are perhaps more respected in the community socially. People who have a higher rate of knowing others perhaps?

Just like Metropolis, Chi-Chian, Soylent Green, and probably a vast number of other dystopic sci-fi epics. It’s been done.
