I remained relatively close to the story given into the rulebook, but added a few of my own elements to it. Sorry if it’s a wee bit grammatically incorrect, I haven’t had much time to look over it. :[
SANDWICH / 0521 T.A.S.T.Y.
Combat Bio-Engineered / Age 7
Manufactured in Seattle
Worked for Triton Enterprises.
Born 0521 T.A.S.T.Y., he was conceived via unique stem cells cultured in an underground lab within the walls of New Seattle. Although Bio-engineering had long since been common practice, his conception was far different than standard measures. Triton enterprises had been working on a way to create unique, non-cloned Bio-Engineered soldiers. This would allow them to customize the soldiers further than if they were to have cloned them from the cells of another, as the DNA could be written completely to their discretion.
The T.A.S.T.Y. project, or Triton Advanced Soldier Test Yield was conceptually designed by Triton Enterprises’ Bio-Genetic Research branch, and more specifically, it’s CEO, Roger Schmidt and several of his brightest scientists. There were three different attempts at the TASTY project, the first two yielded, in total, nearly four hundred failed test subjects, all with near identical cellular degenerative qualities that lead to lethargy and soon death. These original test yields, deemed D.E.U.C.E (Degenerative Engineered and Unconventionally Conceived Entity), and more specifically, D.E.U.C.E #1, in reference to the first batch of failed Bio-Engineered, and #2, in reference to the second batch of failed Bio-Engineered.
While most scientists slated for the project had deemed it a failure and refused to work on it any further, several scientists deemed the project worthy of their further work for various reasons. The project was ultimately too costly and Triton had decided to shut it down. However, days after the order to shut down was given, the scientists continued to work, funding the project with their own Trust. Their attempts seemed futile once again, as cellular regression in the next batch of test subjects continued, causing many of the remaining scientists to abandon hope and condemn project T.A.S.T.Y as an absolute failure.
Two scientists, Doctor Ebert Cranius and Doctor David Hynne, however, refused to give up hope, even with the five hundred and twenty previous failures, they pressed on, using their remaining Trust to fund the creation of one final subject. One of the scientists, Dr. Cranius, had realized that the stem cells themselves were far too weak to sustain life for elonged periods of time alone, and thus, had decided to mesh two stem cells together to form a single solitary cell. This process, deemed “Sandwiching,” led to the creation 0521 T.A.S.T.Y. “Sandwich”, named so for the process used in his creation.
Much debate was raised by the two scientists as to the future of the small boy that they had created. Dr. Hynne, who remained loyal to Triton Enterprises, wanted to submit the child to his superiors for further study and ultimate use as a soldier, as had been the original purpose for his creation. Dr. Cranius, however, wanted to give the boy a chance to grow up and live the life of a normal child and upon his maturity, he could decide his fate.
Dr. Hynne fled with the boy back to Triton Island and submitted the child to the C.E.O of the Bio-Genetic Research Branch, Dr. Schmidt. The boy was then given to the CEO of Triton Enterprises PMC branch, a strong Grigori man named Igar. During the first year of the boy’s life, he was subject to harsh training methods and brutal treatment in order to finely tune him as a blood thirsty soldier. He grew distant from the faculty and his fellow trainees during this period of time.
One cold, bitter day, Dr. Cranius returned to the Island and was detained within the detention block for “Theft and intent to destroy Triton Properties.” Cranius’ only plea was to meet the boy, who had since matured into an adult, that he had created the year prior. 0521 , who was unaware of Cranius or his true name, Sandwich, was sent to the Detention block to meet this strange man.
The Doctor told 0521 of his true name, of the methods used to create him, and of his future as a tool of war. The brief encounter soon turned into a prolonged conversation as their subjects drifted became intertwined. Sandwich realized that he had an attachment to this man, to his father. Upon being ordered to return to the Barracks, 0521 protested, claiming that he would not leave the Doctor’s side, even going so far as to incapacitate the guards that attempted to pry him away. Sandwich demanded that the Doctor be released and instated as his mentor, lest he abandon his duty towards the company.
This matter was brought to the attention of Igar, who readily accepted the deal, as Igar saw this as a chance for Sandwich to gain knowledge from the doctor and to further himself as a warrior. Dr. Cranius was officially instated as member of the Triton Enterprises’ PMC Combat Research Team two days later, his paper for official induction signed personally by Igar.
Under the tutelage of Dr. Cranius, Sandwich was no longer treated harshly and soon grew close to his fellow soldiers, as well as the faculty; though he still felt that the confines of the stronghold were not where he belonged. 0521 quickly learned combat tactics and became adept in the use of small arms and physical combatatives. This training continued until the second year of his life, after which Igar had decided that Sandwich was ready for a combat tour.
His first combat assignment was the extermination of a small rebel force of Human and Remnant insurgence who were raiding Triton research camps in the mountains of what was once Washington State. The operation was a swift success, with prisoners taken. For the first time in his life, Sandwich felt like this was his purpose.
