Well I have most of the information from the wiki site put on the map at this time ... I don’t have the books for AO yet so as soon as I get those in the mail I will update the map as I’m reading.

Here’s the map ... it’s pretty large (about 4.4 megs) and it’s highly recommended you use a graphics program with zoom as whoever has been updating the area around new york in the wiki is putting in quite a bit of info.  smile

Hope you enjoy it and if you find an error please let me know.

I should point out already that New York is… very much in need of being put on that map.

To clarify, even the Wiki has New York’s area shaded in.

That’s understandable ... I’ll go ahead and add that shading on monday when I get home.

Thanks for letting me know about that.

Just a note that the maps from the Wiki (especially NY) and your map are not using the same aspect.  As a result, some features (once again, especially around NY) are WAY off - for instance, you have Bethlehem in what was once NJ, when it should be in PA.  Note that in my map of NY, I did not put in state lines, as such boundaries no longer exist in AO!  Keep in mind that a river that once defined a state border, such as the Mississippi, could have drastically changed course, and therefore having state lines defined by the river would only confuse things.

Also, as for the NY area map, I can certainly explain my reasoning behind certain features and boundaries for things like the radiation zones, if anyone is interested.  This may help in extending certain features, such as the Capital Region Containment Zone.

I’ll also be putting in some information on why certain towns/cities continue to thrive in the world of AO in one of the upcoming products…  cool smirk

Note that in my map of NY, I did not put in state lines,

Yeah, how did you do that? I always find it rather difficult to approximate where a city is suppose to goon a blank map without any assisting political lines.

Also, you’re missing Farthington on your map from “Milkrun” where Atlanta, GA used to be.

MSL-CD ... could you take a look at what areas are off and let me know so I can fix them?  What I did with your map is used 3 different areas to align it as an overlay and got the city/landmark positions from there so if something is off I apologize.

I’ll use the state lines probably because it’s easier to match it along with the wiki for the most part.

Myridean, I’ll make sure to add Farthington.  I havent’ actually read the core books and milkrun yet so that’s why it wasn’t on there but it will be soon.

Well, for the most part, the city names are the same as their real life counterparts - many of the people in this area take great pride in their towns and cities and therefore have kept the majority of them.  There are a few exceptions, but if you line up the majority of the cities with their real life counterparts, you should be able to figure out where the rest go.

also you may want to start with those that can be easily placed with regards to geographical features.  for instance, the town of Ticonderoga should be situated between the northern tip of Lake George and the southern end of Lake Champlain.  The town of Bethlehem (PA) is pretty much due west of NYC and just across the Delaware River, which happens to be the original border between what was once PA and NJ.

the more points you add, the easier it should get…

Putting this on temporary hold while I make a map for the group I’m starting.  As soon as I finish that I’ll start to work on this again.

Where are you going to have your group adventuring???  Don’t forget that you can upload your area maps to the Wiki as well so that if others like your map for the area, they can use it (except where it conflicts with canon material, of course).

Going to be starting the adventure around bear lake on the border of idaho and utah.  I’m designing an island that popped up in the center of the lake when the “cataclysmic decade” happened.

The island will be the starting base and they can decide where to go from there.  I’ll definitely put the new idaho/utah maps up to show the locations and also the map for the island in case anyone wants to use it.

I’m actually thinking about making a full module for that area and releasing it but we’ll have to see how much time I have.

Best of luck on the module Sable, and if you ever need anyone to review or playtest it, let me know.
Your idea sounds great btw.

Thanks Kane, Hard to believe the actual gameplay isn’t causing me concern.  But trying to make the map is ... god I suck at cartography.  raspberry

Have no fear, that is why I downright steal from people like you who post artwork to the forums. It would be even MORE of a crime for me to try my own artwork smile

lol, I’m not artistic in the least.  I had someone make my avatar for me and I put together my sig file from some work a friend did.  At best I’m a modifier so I know what you mean.  smile
