OK, I’m going to have to say I’m a little confused…
First off, Anunnaki get Ultravision as a genetic deviation. They ALSO get Low Light Vision for Ascended Level 1. Since Ultravision includes the abilities of Low Light Vision, this really is a non issue. Other races that get Ascension Level 1 for free, or those that purchase it later on, may not have any vision mods and so get the LLV from the Ascension. If you happen to have LLV as a bonus or purchase it as a deviation, and then get Ascension, you don’t get it a second time - you already have it…suck it up.
This is quite easy. If you look on the chart, it say for example: bonus ability: light sleeper. Ascension lvl1. says: bonus ability: light sleeper. Need another one? Chart says: bonus genetic deviation: Any 1 Body System Level, asc.lvl. 1 says:bonus gen.dev.: any 1 body sys.lvl. So in this case you could think of, that the character gains two body system levels, one from the chart, and one from asc.lvl.1. The same hereby with wielding: chart says: 3 ranks either in alpha or omega, and asc.lvl.1 says: 3 ranks either in alpha or omega (so that you could think of that the character gets a total of six ranks to distribute among alpha or omega -ok wouldn’t work, because of field and skill limits of the anunnaki).
I see nowhere on the Anunnaki that they receive Light Sleeper as a bonus/free Ability - this does not conflict. Even if it did, once again, not all races get it that also get Ascension, so it is just a redundant ability.
Any 1 Body System Level - ditto - what chart are you looking at?? Nowhere on the Anunnaki do I see this. Now, in this case, *IF* the Anunnaki chart says you get a 1 Body System Level, and Ascension gets 1 Body System Level, then you DO get both - there’s nothing that says they have to be the same Body System. You could take two different systems.
Now, with Wielding:
The chart for the Anunnaki states that they can take Spiritual Wielding. You don’t HAVE to take it, it is NOT a requirement. Ascended however, RECEIVE Spiritual Wielding. So, if you are playing Anunnaki, you could certainly save points by not taking any Wielding for the race, but receiving it for the Ascension. So I’ll give you this one, it id redundant to put “Anunnaki can access Innate and Spiritual Wielding” when it should say just “Anunnaki can access Innate Wielding” and “Due to Ascension, Anunnaki receive Spiritual Wielding for no cost” You would then have to choose Alpha or Omega Sources, just as with Ascension, and can still only choose one or the other, not both (so you can’t conflict with purchasing Alpha and getting Omega for Ascension). As for the ranks, it states that “Anunnaki can purchase up to Rank 4 for any Source or Intention during Character Creation” (where do you see 3??). For Ascension, you RECEIVE 3 Ranks in the Source and 3 Ranks to distribute among Intentions. So, you could start the game with up to 4 Ranks in Alpha or Omega, and up to 4 in a single Intention if you sank everything into that one intention (1 purchased, plus 3 received). As for Field and Skill limitations for the Anunnaki, that doesn’t matter - these are Wielding Source and Intentions, they have nothing to do with Skills - that is a separate part of the chart. All of this combining of Source and Intention ranks is clearly (I feel) laid out in the character example in Section 6.10.2
Even though low light would be added by ascension level 1, it’s redundant so wouldn’t need to be listed since UV is part of the species.
As I stated above - you guys are only looking at Anunnaki as one example, and then adding the Ascension as if they were the only ones that ever get these powers. The Low Light Vision in the Ascension powers is there as a benefit for those other races that choose to purchase Ascension later on and may be thankful to receive LLV among their newfound abilities. If they already have LLV, then they don’t realize that benefit again, nor do they receive any CDP refund.
I can only assume that all this confusion is coming from the CHARACTER SAMPLE at the end of the section, as the abilities of the RACE and ASCENSION are combined together. If that is the cause of your confusion, then I’ll grant you that the example might benefit from the terms “(from Ascension)” after the last three items. In the example in the Wielding section (6.10), it should say “From the Ascended Level 1 abilities which she receives for free based on the Anunnaki Species description, ...”
