I recently had this question come up and I couldn’t give them an immediate response. When a player is looking at spending CDP on developing their character, the book doesn’t really specify if they are looking to increase their Endurance or Hit Points if they can spend CDP on it.

Based on how I interpreted it, Hit Points are always based off Conditioning + Vitality and Endurance from Conditioning + Discipline. To that end, when either of those stats increase, the Max for that pool increases as well.

Does that sound about right? Or am I missing something?

Yes, that sounds about right. In order to affect those tertiary qualities, you have to spend the CDP on the core qualities. The good news is that they also increase the secondary qualities that are associated with those core qualities. If he wants to increase both, raising the Conditioning score would do the trick. If he wants to eventually ascend however, he"ll have to spend the CDP on the other core qualities to get them within five points of each other though.

I second Myrideans’s response. You cannot increase Health Pool or Endurance Pool directly, you need to either up the core qualities or purchase deviations tha up the total.

That’s what I thought. Was just one of those things I wanted to confirm because it wasn’t specifically identified as such.

Thanks!

I was under the impression that to ascend your core qualities need to be within 5 points of your physis and not necessarily each other.

Mathusrayn is correct. They have to be within 5 of the Physis. So theoretically, you can have one core quality be 5 points above Physis and another be 5 points below. Thus they would be 10 points apart.
